Sometimes you’re the Windshield, Sometimes you’re the Bug..

For those of you not familiar with this epic Mary Chapin Carpenter jam, sometimes, we get to be both the winshield AND the bug in the same day!

Tis the season right?

Sometimes life has a funny way of making sure you're paying attention. Always a swinging pendulum of sorts, keeping your balance.. and your ego in place all at the same time. Are you appreciating the good in the magic AND the lessons in the bad. Reminding you that it's not as much as what happens to you in life but how you handle it that truly matters. After all, as Mary said "when you're rippin' and a ridin' and you're comin on strong, you'll start slipping and sliding and it all goes wrong" In so many underestimated ways, this woman gets me.

**Fun fact, I have been listening to Mary for as long as I can remember along with John Prine, Emmylou Harris, and The Beatles to name a few, I know, pretty rad.

Nick and I had our first "pop up market" this past week and it was such fun!! We saw more people than we could have hoped for and more importantly, we got to get our little leafy dream farther out into the world!! Our "pop up markets" for anyone wondering, is literally just us popping up with our car and coolers full of goodies for a couple of hours to sell our delicious produce to anyone who wants to come see us, and we have been trying to throw in a free herb or a salad blend as the tinyest possible token of our gratitude for coming to see us, supporting us, cheering us on, and giving our greens a chance to change the way you think about your every day greens! Seriously, you will not want any other salad mixes after you try the Dreamy Blend and its remix the Leafy Edit, although personally I have a meaningful love for the Dreamy Blend! Throw in some of your favorite veggies and a light vinaigrette or even just a little Oil/Vinigar with a splash of lemon. To put it planely, the greens we add to this mix have the flavor peice fully under control and can stand on their own as the star of the show!

Fun Fact! The Romaine we added to this salad was harvested on November 11th and it was AH-MAZING!

here comes the sun

Annnnd then, just when your confidence gets to an all time high and you're feeling something very close to floating, life hands you a large slice of humble pie. But hey, at least we get to see some really pretty sunrises and sunsets!! ☀️ Let the good times roll!

Fa, la, laa 🎶 🎄

We ran into something of a technical issue this past week that could have very easily cost us our entire crop if we hadn't gotten back when we did. I'm not saying that we got by entirely unscathed by any sense of the imagination, but in many, many ways, we just got really lucky. We did loose more produce than I would care to admit but, we made the easy choice to restart a lot of our towers just to error on the side of caution. Fortunately, we had roughly 1000 seeds started and a couple hundred plants ready to transplant into towers. It could have, likely should have been a total catastrophe. We just got really, very lucky.  It took us a lot of hours and a few tears but we got through it and better yet, we're making the best of the situation, it allowed us the opportunity to start the seeds we knew we wanted to focus on and swap out the ones that aren't necessarily our favorites. We had just done a fairly massive harvest so we were still able to fulfill all of our promises for the week and we got to celebrate a 92nd birthday and eat angel food cake and other amazingly fresh leafy greens with family in between.

You know, kinda like when life gives you lemons, you make lemonade, and then squirt the nay sayers in the eye with a giggle when you're finished!!

Like so many people before us, we have learned some really big lessons along the way of this little leafy dream of ours. We have had some Really. Big. Fights. We have had laughs and dance parties and perfect little moments, we've seen amazing sunsets and big, bold (noisey) storms! We have had little neices visit us at all stages of our little dream, recently we have had lovely friends and relatives come see our little operation (alllllthoooouuggh there ARE a few people we would really really like to come visit sometime soon!!) hint, hint 😉 when we say this little leafy dream of ours really has been a dream.. it is always a dream, the time and day just decide what KIND of dream! Okay, I yield, when I sit down at the end of the day, there isn't anything else I can see doing with my life and there isn't anyone else I would rather be doing it with.

I guess we really are the big door prize.

I wish all of you a season of living your biggest, boldest life imaginable and all the love in the world!

Till next time Friends,
